We are pleased to announce that Anthony Crowley has been appointed as Systech Country Manager, KSA and Kuwait effective from 1st June 2022.
Anthony was previously with Systech between 1998 and 2007 and re-joins us after 15 years. He is well known to Mark Woodward-Smith and Stephen Rayment and he has worked alongside several of our senior managers, including Ian Huggett, Geoff Ansell and Phil Walker, for a range of clients including Metronet Alliance, Tyco, Alstom, Barhale, SLP, Raynesway and InterRoute JV.
Anthony’s return to Systech is warmly welcomed and his appointment marks the importance of KSA and Kuwait to the development of the business and our expansion plans in the Middle East.
Anthony is up for the challenge, and he comes to us at an exciting time with unprecedented growth and mega projects planned in the region as outlined in their respective country plans; KSA Vision 2030, a US$7tn investment in sustainable transformation projects throughout the Kingdom including infrastructure and new city construction and Kuwait Vision 2035, a US$100bn national development plan to transform the State into an international financial and trade hub.
Anthony’s knowledge of the region comes from his time working in Kuwait, where he was based for 4 years from 2015 as Driver Trett Country Manager, growing the division to become one of the most profitable parts of their AIM listed business. He was subsequently appointed as Chief Operating Officer for Pendulum International, Kuwait, a specialist dispute resolution company.
His excellent relationships with local employers, contractors and law firms combined with our existing links with consulting engineer Alrabiah, will be very beneficial to the business, including Systech Law. Our opportunities are further enhanced by KSA becoming a more attractive place for international contractors to work with the codifying of the Sharia legal system and positive steps on the enforcement of arbitration decisions for foreign companies arbitrating against state-owned entities.
Anthony’s career has taken him elsewhere around the Middle East, including UAE and Qatar, where he has successfully prosecuted and defended claims for main contractors, specialist subcontractors and employers in the key sectors of rail, metro, civils and highways. His expertise includes leading quantum and delay claims teams, supporting experts in arbitrations and liaising with lawyers, employers and consultants.
Anthony will be responsible for work winning across the region as well as co-ordinating client matters and managing our claims, dispute resolution and commercial management offering. He will also take the lead in developing our presence in the energy sector for which he will liaise closely with his colleagues to support Japanese, Korean, Spanish and French contractors who are active in the Middle East.
Given the extensive investment planned in the region over the next 10-15 years, Anthony is confident he can develop a robust long-term, high quality workstream, involving UK based consultants working remotely, as well as developing in-country teams.
Anthony will report to Stephen and will be based in the UK (where his family will relocate) from where he will travel to spend most of his time in the Middle East.
He has a strong interest in IT and claims software and will play a leading role in expanding our expertise in this technical area, as well as overseeing staff development and training.
