The project

The Doha Metro, which is a rapid transit system in Doha, Qatar's capital city, which became operational on 8 May 2019. It has three lines with an approximate overall length of 76 km and 37 stations. It is an integral component of the larger Qatar Rail network, which will include a long-distance rail service for passengers and freight, linking Qatar to the GCC, and the Lusail LRT. Capable of reaching 100 km/h, the Doha Metro will be one of the fastest driverless trains in the world.

Our role

We have been appointed to provide a contract management, project controls management, claims management, dispute resolution, dispute avoidance and training services over the full lifespan of project. A key aspect of our role is to provide robust contract and schedule management with a focus on measures to prevent cost and schedule escalation, early warnings to allow mitigation and staff training/upskilling.

We have also had a role to undertake an interim commercial review of the project and report to the board on key commercial risks through to completion.

The specifics on which we are working are:

  • Performance measurement – install and monitor systems to manage progress including Tilos programming, Primavera P6 Scheduling, Earned Value Analysis and Quantivia cost and resource loaded schedules
  • Restructure the work schedule – construction, systems, test and commission
